the rail, does keep you in bed safely. but the thing I am happy about is how oftenI use the rail to move myself around in bed. Or just rolling over, or shifting my body around, where before it was nessary to ask for help. Now I just reach for the rail without thinking. Its great for keeping your balance. I am over 400 lbs and its held up to my pulling and pushing againest it fine. I may order another!!!
